The quiet habit that killed my trading chaos
A habit every serious trader should steal
I was pacing around my apartment this morning trying to decide the most suitable action to start the day,
I'll probably head to the gym later,
But first ill go on my usual morning stroll to the coffee shop,
Somewhere between the front door and that first sip of that latte, I caught myself thinking:
How did I end up with this kind of morning?
No panic. No rush. Just a weird, almost careless sense of calm.
What habits did I truly instill that left me with this level of prosperity,
A habit that I can confidently say, got me profitable.
I track everything.
Not just wins and losses.
Not just “Did I follow my plan?”
I log every trade,
Why I took it, what I felt.
What I saw in the market that day.
Even what kind of headspace I was in.
It’s boring at first, trust me I know.
But boring is where the money is.
And today I see a lot of new traders in the space who are more than likely just chasing excitement.
I know it’s tempting when the only thing you can see is your favorite guru’s screenshots on IG.
The dopamine.
But the ones who last?
The ones who stuck around long enough for you to even come across their content,
They studied themselves.
You just didn't see that part,
They spotted patterns in their own behavior.
They know almost instantly when they’re sharp, and when they’re not.
They also learned to do less,
A couple years back I started journaling during a losing streak.
Felt pointless at first.
But after a few weeks, the patterns got noticeable,
Turns out I trade worse on bad sleep.
I get cocky after a win.
My cleanest setups come when I’m detached.
None of this is obvious in the moment.
But when it’s written down, raw and honest
You can’t unsee it.
And once you see it, you can fix it.
That’s how you sharpen your edge and finally get consistent
And once you're there, that's when you see that higher level of clarity,
Peace mindset
But it's hard, It’s hard to find in the mix of this static we live in today
Too boring.
Too slow.
I get it, trust me I've been there
The valley of despair
But if you’re tired of not being profitable as much as i used to be
Track everything.
Just truth, and data.
Add your own personal touch to it,
You'll get consistent fast, a lot faster than you can imagine right now,
By the way
Got something BIG coming up.
We'll talk soon,
Atif.
